In a picture taken of two gold nuclei in an ultrahigh-energy collision at the Brookhaven National Laboratory's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) there are thousands of particles streaming out. This is believed to be what the "Big Bang" may have looked like a few microseconds after it occurred.
